In this module participants will understand the differences between traditional course teaching and learning and project-based teaching. Project based teaching practices offer alternatives beyond the traditional “off the shelf” curriculum and assignments. Project based learning expands the role of instructors to mentor or coach helping to guide students to tackle real world challenges or explore a meaningful question in deeper depth. This is a self-paced course where you will review 18 pages describing project-based teaching practices. The course starts by giving guidelines on what projects should offer students, then goes on to how standards can be used to frame students’ work. Lastly the course discusses how scaffolding the learning can be of assistance to many students. The course contains videos, articles, activities and interactive pages to assist in your understanding of the topic. The outcomes from this course are that you should be able to understand how to reframe a traditional learning methodology with the user of projects.
